Kids: Keeping it real for parents since the dawn of humanity
May 16, 2021: To toast my younger progeny, who recently turned all of six, I humbly present his most memorable dialogues thus far, which I frantically type on my iPhone Notes when he’s done spouting. Make some noise please for little Sumair:
Between huge bites of cereal in the morning while giving me his classic penetrating, discerning look:
“Mommy, you need to work on your anger, not just when you’re angry, but also at other times, like when you’re feeling normal.” (Ouch)
While I was driving him and his elder bro around:
“Mommy, you need more practice. Daddy is a better driver.”
This, when I hurried him up while getting ready for school and admonished him to be more aware of time:
“Mommy!!! Remember? I don’t know time.”
It’s not all about the Mom. This appraisal of his Dad:
“Daddy looks like a tortoise.”
And then this evaluation of the entire human race:
“Mother Nature made a mistake in making humans too smart.”
He cracks me up, always. That’s when I’m not pulling my hair out at his stubbornness. Match made in heaven, I say, this little fella and me. So blessed.
