Making Space for Your Creative Seed

#CreativeLifeSeries (2)- So, you have a new idea for a creative project, and after spending some time with it, you still love it. That's fantastic! But what's the one crucial thing you need, whether it's for work, personal endeavors, or hobbies? You need headspace or mind space, often referred to as bandwidth. A friend of mine once told me that even a friend occupies a piece of your mind. This means you need to create space, not just in your schedule, but also in terms of your energy.

Creating Space for Your Creative Seed

To nurture your creative seed, you have to think about where it fits in your energy space and what you might need to let go of. Maybe, instead of reading, you spend that time drawing or engaging in whatever is important to you. Figuring out how to fit your creative project into your life is essential because no idea can come to fruition unless it's given energy, time, and space. Without being mindful about this, you might lose momentum.

My Journey: Balancing Journalism and Creativity

Let me share my experience. At one point, I thought I could juggle journalism, managing small children, and working on a novel. Writing a novel requires a lot of creative daydreaming and just staring off into space. I quickly realized that I couldn't manage it all. I had to let journalism take a backseat and embrace more of a creative daydreamer role to make progress on my novel. This shift allowed me to give my novel the attention and energy it needed.

Finding Your Creative Space

For your creative project, consider what it means in terms of your time, space, and energy. Where can you fit it in? Start with that, even if it changes later. The key is to be mindful and intentional about creating space for your creativity.

By making deliberate choices about how you spend your time and energy, you can ensure that your creative seed has the room it needs to grow and flourish. Embrace the process, make space for your creativity, and watch your ideas come to life in ways you never imagined
